Wedding season is coming in hot!! If you are a guest then today I’m going to give you a few helpful tips for buying the perfect gift. If you are a bride, I’m going to tell you why you need to register at Macy’s. Let’s talk about wedding registries, shall we? If you are they type of wedding guest that buys the couple a gift then you undoubtedly fall into one of two categories. Option 1, you are a tried & true “I like to buy from the registry” type of person. Congratulations, brides always love you. Option 2, you are a “I like to take it upon myself to decide what the couple wants and needs in their new home”. Congratulations, your gift is getting returned. No, but really. If you are in the first group of people you don’t need any pointers because you understand that you can typically find anything you want to buy of any amount on the couple’s registry. I understand that some people might not like to be told what gift to purchase. Maybe you have control issues. Maybe you think it’s not proper etiquette. All I can say is maybe pick something off of the registry and then go wild with a couple of other little trinkets and treasures. Bonus points if they are small enough to easily sell at a garage sale. But in all seriousness, even Emily Post has tips for shopping from a wedding registry so I assure you it’s ok. Brides these days register for all sorts of goodies from every department imaginable. If you are traditional and want to give a thoughtful gift then pick a few items of different categories. For example, pick a classic plate or bowl, add a pretty linen like a hand towel and an accessories such as measuring spoons. You can have it delivered to your house , wrap it in beautiful paper and I assure you that you will win the wedding gift game.

I’m very pleased with the daily china we picked. It’s this pattern by Vietri, available at Macy’s. I’m also pleased with the appliances I picked. I do wish that I would have picked a few more quality bowls, servers and trays and a few less random knick-knacks. I mean who seriously uses a waffle-maker? Not us. Haven’t made waffles in almost 7 years of marriage.

If you are engaged and are registering for the first time here is why I think Macy’s is a great option. First of all, a huge store like Macy’s carries a ton of brands and has a lot of inventory to choose from like Le Creuset, Vietri, Dyson, Vitamix and so many more. This way people can buy you any number of items and you can return them if needed to get all of the settings you want of your china. Another reason why Macy’s is a great registry option is the ability for couples to register online and guests to shop online, while they also have stores everywhere, accommodating those who don’t shop online. Guests can easily visit their local Macy’s to pick out and purchase a gift in person. They also offer their Newlywed Discount, 20% off most remaining registry items for 6 months after the wedding.
