Packing for Spring Vacations

In a few short weeks, we will be trading in our puffer coats for sundresses, and our snow gear for swimwear as we travel down to Marco Island for a long spring weekend! I’m so excited to be in the sun and by the sea that I can hardly stand it. I’m a mountain girl these days and marriage has acclimated me to ski trips and snowstorms but sunshine on my face with my feet in the ocean will always be my first choice when it’s time to travel.

A majority of my warm-weather clothes and accessories are safely tucked away under a mountain of moving boxes while we are finalizing our new home. I have a few of my favorite staples, like these wedges, that I wore late into the summer months but I’m in need of a spring wardrobe update when it comes to resort-wear. My beloved Nordstrom has the absolute best selection of resort-wear right now and I’ve ordered a few new items to take with me that I thought I would share with you today! Naturally I have ordered more than I need so that I can try on in the comfort of my own home and utilize Nordstrom’s free shipping and free returns. If you would prefer to try-on in-store with the help of Nordstrom’s style experts then you can also reserve online and try on in-store. If you’re lucky enough to live near a Nordstrom then you can select curbside pickup when you checkout online and get your items almost immediately. Another reason I love Nordstrom, for vacation apparel especially, is because they offer free alterations. Need the straps on your bikini taken up? Need a shorter hemline for your dress? They do it for free!

My first choice for shopping, in general, is always Nordstrom but I really love them when I need items for vacation. Not only have a great selection of items for when you get to your destination but they also carry luggage, totes, travel accessories and an incredible selection of styles you can wear while traveling, no matter the climate. We have absolutely loved this roller luggage and this Tory Burch tote is one of the most well-made bags I’ve ever purchased. I can load it up with my laptop, cameras, kid gear and the best part is that it wipes completely clean! I also rarely travel without wearing these slides by Vince. They are a little pricier than I would typically buy but several years and so many trips later they are still in tip-top shape and so comfortable.

Today, in collaboration with Nordstrom, I thought it would be fun to share with you my absolute favorite outfit for traveling and what I’m bringing with me to Florida in a few weeks!

LUGGAGE // This is our favorite piece of luggage that we are constantly fighting over for trips. It’s large enough to pack for a week but not so big that it’s bulky or easy to fill past the 50lb limit. I also love that both sides will contain your clothes and that my toiletries never get squished.

TOP // You need this top!! It is so incredibly soft and I love that it is a real tie in the front & not a faux tie that is sewn. The reason I love this is because you can tie it tighter or looser depending on your jeans and comfort level and you can even not tie it at all and tuck it in! I ordered a small and I’m typically between a small and a medium so if you are a true small I would size down!

JEANS // I love these affordable jeans!! They are soft, stretchy, and the high-waist is the perfect inseam.

SHOES // My most-worn pair of travel shoes! They are expensive so if you want the look without the price tag I also recommend this pair.

BAG // This tote is the perfect size and can easily be carried every day as an oversized bag or as a laptop bag. I love that it wipes clean and the straps are incredibly durable.

SUNGLASSES // You can’t go wrong with a dark cat eye pair of shades. This version just sold out as I was posting but should be restocked. You can also find a similar pair here.

If you are traveling somewhere very tropical for spring break then you can easily still wear this outfit. One way to make it tropical weather friendly is to throw a pair of slides in your carry-on and to wear a bodysuit under the sweater.

Packing for Spring Break Travel

Now that we have covered what to wear while traveling let’s discuss what to take with you on your spring trip!

Spring break packing

ONE // TWO // THREE // FOUR // FIVE // SIX // SEVEN // EIGHT // NINE // TEN // ELEVEN // TWELVE // THIRTEEN // FOURTEEN // FIFTEEN // SIXTEEN // SEVENTEEN

ONE // The best hair products you could ever want in mini version! These would last you long enough to fully try the products before you decided if you wanted to buy the full size.

TWO // Buying these!! I have the tan version from last year and they are very comfortable and less than $50!

THREE // Coola is the best! I love this mini kit and you could use the bag to take your items in a pool bag.

FOUR // LOVE this top! Buying to wear with my high-rise jeans and shorts when on vacation.

FIVE // I need this maxi cover-up but the question is do I get it in black or coral?!

SIX // Affordable jean shorts that aren’t daisy dukes. It’s a springtime miracle!

SEVEN // My favorite wedges from last year. They are incredibly comfortable and help your legs look longer.

EIGHT // I’m loving this feminine bikini.

NINE // How cute is this $49 mini bag? Good job, Nordstrom!

TEN // I would imagine this is the best-selling one piece of all time on Nordstrom’s site. Sucks you in and slims you out. I also took this swimsuit to Canada (for the indoor pool obviously) and I love it! I would size up!

ELEVEN // One of my favorite pair of shades now comes in a rose color!

TWELVE // This is my favorite beach hat! Pack it with your undies, socks and bikinis in your suitcase and it will hold it’s shape.

THIRTEEN // Love this pull-on romper cover-up!

FOURTEEN // This tank is something you can wear on vacation and when you get home under a jacket or blazer.

FIFTEEN // A new bikini to Nordstrom’s site and it looks like it might have decent coverage.

SIXTEEN // This little wonder product will refresh your face, hydrate your skin and set your makeup.

SEVENTEEN // I have the OG Miller sandal that I wore for about 3 years. I think it’s time to replace them with this square-toe version!

Hope this post helps you if you’re packing for spring break. Or maybe it inspires you to plan a spring trip of your own and treat yourself to a new suit or frock. After all, what are all of those salads and sprints good for if you can’t use them as an excuse to escape somewhere sunny!
