Every year at Christmastime my girlfriends and I have a “favorite things” party. We gather at someone’s house and everyone brings one of their favorite items $25 of less for a white elephant exchange. In addition to the gift, we all bring an appetizer or dessert we love. This year, with the help of Macy’s, I was in charge of the decor and contributed a festive hot cocoa display! If you’re hosting a holiday party this year or just want to set up a sweet welcome for your Christmas house guests then I highly recommend this easy crowd pleaser! Also, if you act quickly, you can save 30% off select items from Macy’s with code FRIEND during their Friends and Family Event!
As I was browsing Macy’s for Christmas entertaining pieces I stumbled across these mini tabletop trees and quickly shifted the theme of my hot cocoa display to center around them! I also spotted this berry & pine cone garland which I used to wrap around a serving board (similar here). This garland would be beautiful on a mantle flanked by these mini trees but it also makes and excellent table runner or accent for any spot that needs a little extra greenery.
I loved the red in the trees & garland so much that I started looking for more red accents for the table. I originally planned to use these red plaid napkins as napkins for guests but loved them bunched around the table since I was building up different layers for the trees. I think it’s important to have different heights if you’re looking to create an interesting tablescape and used the tin from these peppermint cookies under a tree for some height. I also snagged this cute wood sled serving board for a little extra height. If you didn’t want to use the napkin technique then this tablecloth is beautiful as well! I also love this platter with Christmas Trees!
Not only does Macy’s have all the serving pieces and decor you need for holiday entertaining, they even carry hot cocoa! These very affordable white mugs were the perfect vessels for my chocolatey treat and how great are these snowflake and Christmas tree hot cocoa toppers! For the treats I scattered around mini marshmallows, peppermints, gingerbread cookies from the grocery store and plenty of items from Macy’s Gourmet Food selection including butter almond toffee, peppermint bark and these beautiful peppermint cookies!
Macy’s makes it very easy to pick up everything you need for hosting a party in one swoop, including what to wear! This black turtleneck is in a word, amazing. It’s the perfect thickness because it holds you in, feels very luxurious but isn’t hot at all! I plan on layering it all winter long!
Here are all the links for creating your own hot cocoa display! If you make one then take a photo and tag me in it on instagram! I love seeing how you guys put your own spin on my entertaining ideas!!
