Cinco De Mayo Tablescape

Earlier this year my good friend Mary of Mrs. Southern Social and I teamed up again to create a dreamy lavender and plum Easter tablescape. Apparently, we are feeling the purple decor and gravitated towards even more for a festive Cinco de Mayo spread. I do love the contrast of the purple with the limes, light green margaritas and golden accents. This color-way table would make for easy decor for any summer dinner party but today we are going to focus on all things Cinco de Mayo and fiesta themed. I even included a few links to simple recipes that are sure to please! If you have a Cinco de Mayo-themed recipe for melt-in-your-mouth Mexican food, delicious apps or mouth-watering drinks, hop on over to my Instagram post or leave it in the comments below!! I’ll compile the top hits at the bottom of this post. So pull up a chair, pour yourself a Ranch Water, Spicy Skinny Margarita or a container of guac and let’s get started!

Cinco De Mayo Table Decorations

Mary is a genius when it comes to all things tablescapes and I lean on her for all the fancy. Sometimes we full-on tag-team a tablescape and then sometimes I sit back and watch the master work and help with florals and styling. On this table we used Frances Valentine tablecloth and napkins from Mary’s personal collection, paired them with purple Pomelo Casa dinnerwear, and added early tones with rattan chargers, bamboo flatware and rattan glasses. We adorned the table with a pincushion protea tucked into each napkin to elevate our Cinco de Mayo decorations. Stems and blooms are a great way to dress up a tablescape, but just make sure you pick something that won’t wilt in the heat and can last for an hour or so minus the water.

We did the flowers ourselves and used a combination of blooms in similar shades of purple. Notice the three vases – always style accent pieces in odd numbers (visually it looks cleaner). We kept it budget-friendly with mums, daisies, and some “filler” stems for height and texture. If you didn’t have purple roses or access to a larger bloom, you could easily substitute with green or white hydrangeas or full greenery. Bells of Ireland would be beautiful!

Cinco de Mayo Cocktails

Spicy Margarita Recipe

This was my first time trying 21 Seeds, and I must say that it was delicious! They have a fantastic recipe on their website for the easiest cocktail ever: a Spicy Skinny Margarita made with just three ingredients that I have also included below. 21 Seeds is a female-owned tequila brand and their partner distillery in Mexico is similarly owned and predominantly staffed by women! Here’s the recipe for the perfect Skinny Margarita on this Cinco de Mayo:

Spicy Skinny Margarita

2 oz Cucumber Jalapeño Tequila

1/2 oz fresh lime juice

1/2 oz simple syrup

Place all ingredients into shaker with 1.5 cups of ice. Shake 30 seconds (totally underrated and makes the cocktail); pour into a glass. Garnish with a lime and/or cucumber slice and serve. Optional: add club soda to make it a margarita spritz.
