The Best Drugstore Moisturizer of 2018

Does your skin get extremely dry in cold or windy conditions? What about when you travel or fly in an airplane? I have textbook combination skin that can get both oily and very dry and nothing throws it quite into a tailspin like a change in the seasons or a long plane ride. Last month when I flew to Los Angeles, I took the Olay Regenerist Whip Fragrance-Free Face Moisturizer to see how it performed under the most extreme skin conditions. Short story, it’s one of the best drugstore moisturizers I’ve found.

If you’ve read my blog for any amount of time, then you know I am a big fan of a drugstore beauty product. I won’t buy something just for the sake of saving money, but when you can find an affordable product with powerful ingredients that works better than a product 10x its price, well that is just a win! When Olay sent me their fragrance-free Whips to try I was already aware that I could find it at Walgreens because I pretty much have the aisles memorized. I was also aware of the original Whip’s cult following and accolades as the best-selling new facial moisturizer of 2018. With my trip to LA looming I thought what a better time to see if this product lived up to the hype.

I woke up the morning of my flight at 3:30AM EST, washed my face and applied the Olay Regenerist Whip Fragrance-Free Face Moisturizer. At this point I had used the Olay Whips a couple of times and was already impressed with how the cream transformed to a liquid on my skin. It has a smooth, weightless application, a matte finish and left my skin feeling hydrated but not greasy. I especially love that there isn’t a fragrance because I cannot deal with a product that has a smell. The matte finish and fast-absorbing hydration also act as a wonderful primer for makeup. While I typically would put on a cc cream or a foundation after moisturizer, I headed out to the airport wearing only the Olay Whips so that I could monitor how my skin reacted.

When I landed in LA some 12 hours later my skin looked just like it did when I applied the product that AM. No greasy t-zone, no dry patches and no grimy residue beckoning me to find a sink at the nearest terminal. It was if the Olay Whips had locked in my skin’s natural moisture and provided a barrier to the outside elements while evening out my skin tone. Plus, I didn’t have to endure a weird smell the entire plane due to the fragrance-free formula. Needless to say, I am officially a believer in the hype and decided to do a deeper dive into why this product is so remarkable.

In working with Olay for this post I learned that they have been working on this weightless Whip formula for 10 years! They developed “Active Rush Technology” which helps this light cream transform into a liquid when it comes in contact with your skin which allows for maximum absorption. This technology let’s your skin get the full benefit of the anti-aging ingredients like B3 and an advanced amino peptide complex while providing hydration that lasts all day! In fact, the amount of B3 in these Whips is the same amount as what you would find in 50 cups of kale. Additionally, the hold-and-release delivery system holds 1000 times its weight in hydration while it works to reverse wrinkles, diminish the look of fine lines and wrinkles and hydrate to improve elasticity and skin firmness.

In conclusion, this is one of the best drugstore moisturizers I have used, and I have worn it day and night since my trip last month. Next time you’re in Walgreens pick up your own jar of Olay Regenerist Whip Fragrance-Free Face Moisturizer and let me know if you think it’s worthy of being permanently included in your skin care routine! There is also an Olay Total Effects Whip SPF25 fragrance-free for daytime use if you don’t want to follow with a separate SPF. I cannot wait to hear your thoughts. Once you give it a try please let me know in the comments if you think it’s as great as I do!

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Olay. The opinions and text are all mine.

I bought the Total Effects (fragrance-free and SPF) because you recommended it! (Haven’t opened it just yet.) Do you recommend that one or the Regenerist?
