Backyard Camping with Backcountry

Kids!! Grab your favorite toys, we’re going camping!! You would think when we hit them with the follow up that camping was “just in our backyard” that they would have been disappointed. But that’s the thing about kids, they appreciate the simple things in life! I would say that spring of 2020 has taught us all to learn to more deeply appreciate the simple things in life and relish in any and every opportunity for fresh air, great weather and happy times with loved ones. Earlier this week we packed up all of our favorite Backcountry gear and headed out back (literally), to eat pizza, play outside and just hang out. It was glorious and the girls loved every minute of it. Maybe next time I will give in and turn our backyard camping dinner into a backyard sleepover.

Backyard camping with Backcountry

Our entire family is happiest outdoors and I am so thankful that our frigid and windy spring weather is calming down, allowing us more opportunities for evenings in the yard. Our girls are rambunctious little things that love to run and play, explore the woods, stomp in creeks and climb trees and we try to stay outside as much as possible. This is typically the time of year where we would be meeting up with friends at the park to walk our favorite trails, listen to live music at local breweries and eventually make our way to the pool. With all of our activities closed and pools not opening anytime soon, I’m so thankful for a yard to play in and a tent from Backcountry that is so easy to set up a person named Cristin can do it. If you are looking for a fun activity to do with kids, a relaxing date night or just an escape from the Netflix norm, I encourage you to have a little backyard camping adventure! Even if you just throw out a big blanket in the yard, order some pizza, stock your favorite cooler full of drinks and snacks, and have an at-home al-fresco dining experience, I bet it will instantly boost your mood!

What We’re Wearing & Our Favorite Backyard Camping Accessories

Here is a look at some of our favorite Backcountry finds that are featured in this post. This Arc’Teryx jacket is one of my most versatile jackets and I am wearing one of my favorite Backcountry’s tees! The one I’m wearing is actually a men’s small. Zach has it and I kept stealing it, so I ordered one for myself. They are so incredibly soft. I also live in these running shoes. Speaking of shoes, my girls wear KEENS all summer long. They love that they are easy to slip on and I love that they are durable and protect their toes. I recently ordered the girls these Patagonia Fleece Jackets and they are a favorite already. They are warm and cozy enough for chilly nights and I bought them a size up so they will grow with the girls through the summer and fall! Zach is wearing his Arc’Teryx jacket that he literally never takes off and of course we’re using all of our favorite YETI accessories. I will say that this tent is A MUST if you are in the market for a tent. It’s a 3-season tent that comes with several different covers. We have just the base level set up, but you can add covers for can set this tent up with Hayden, it’s seriously that easy. If you can set up a beach chair, you can set up this tent!
