10 Best Sunscreens of 2019

As someone with acne-prone skin and a daughter that battled Eczema, I am a stickler for a good sunscreen. Up until I started having kids, and started into my thirties, I didn’t really pay too much attention to sunscreen. Sure, I used it, but I could really buy basically anything and not have to worry too much about the repercussions. Then I started having kids and my skin started freaking out on me. I battled pregnancy face (melasma, breakouts, you name it) and had a daughter that had pretty bad eczema that we could not get rid of! I became a little bit obsessed with finding great sunscreen that not only protects our skin but also that wouldn’t break me out, irritate my girls’ skin or need to be applied 47 times a day. Here are my findings.

Unseen Sunscreen for Face (SPF 40)

During other times of the year I use Elta MD but when it’s summer and I know I’m going to be in the sun or water, I use this! It applies flawlessly and acts as a great primer for makeup!

COOLA SPF 30 Spray Sunscreen

My #1 sunscreen find of this summer. I LOVE this stuff and use it on our entire family.

10 Best Sunscreens of 2019: Supergoop

Unseen Sunscreen for Face (SPF 40) | Everyday Sunscreen (SPF 50) | Sunscreen Oil (SPF 50) | Glow Stick (SPF 50)

I don’t love the glow stick because I am typically wearing cc cream to the beach but this Sunscreen Oil is great for using on your body, the Everyday sunscreen is awesome to have on hand for use on the whole family and the Unseen Sunscreen is what I use on my face when I’m going to be in the sun or the water.

Paula’s Choice Primer (SPF 30) | Elta MD (SPF 46) | Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen (SPF 40)

All three of these are great options for use on your skin before your makeup! The Paula’s choice is a great primer, the Elta MD is something you can wear every day with or without makeup on top and the Supergoop! is GREAT for being out in the sun!

10 Best Sunscreens of 2019: Sunscreens for Face

Unseen Sunscreen (SPF 40) | IT Cosmetics CC Cream (SPF 50) | COOLA Setting Spray (SPF 30)

This is my holy grail of summer skin. I use the Unseen Sunscreen first, let it sit in and then follow with the CC Cream. I was using this COOLA setting spray at the time of this post but have since fallen in love with this one by Supergoop!. I actually used the Supergoop! product when they first launched and didn’t love it because the sprayer would stick and the mist wasn’t fine enough. They have since improved all of that and it is great!~

10 Best Sunscreens of 2019: SPF Setting Powder

Supergoop Setting Powder (SPF 45) | Colorscience Setting Powder (SPF 50)

Both of these items are great to have on hand when you are wearing makeup! I always, ALWAYS, take one to football games! You just brush the powder on your face to freshen up and protect your skin. I think I like the Colorscience better but they are honestly both fantastic.

It’d be nice to see more mineral sunscreens in this post, especially considering the FDAs recent study regarding chemical sunscreen absorption into the bloodstream.

    • Hi! These are just my favorites that have worked for me and my kids and that I feel good about the products. 🙂 Also, for what it’s worth, Elta MD & the Sunnyscreen products are mineral (physical) sunscreens. Also, not all chemical sunscreens are created equal. The FDA ruling specifically focused on avobenzone, oxybenzone, octocrylene and ecamsule and only avobenzone is in the Unseen sunscreen. The only other product on this list that contains any of those is the Coola but honestly I have tried countless mineral sprays and they either don’t work or I burn. I feel Unseen protects my face and Coola is personally the best choice for my skin right now because it protects my skin. Hope this helps you understand why I chose these!
