Do you see that tree in these photos?!?! Those colors can only mean one thing and that is that fall is officially right around the corner. Down here in the Carolinas it isn’t exactly layering season quite yet but once football is on TV I get the itch for some fall clothes! If you too are getting in the autumn spirit here are a couple of tips for how to dress the part before the temps cooperate.

First, wear long drapey blouses. I really have no other explanation for this other than I like the way it looks and it makes me feel all cozy and fall-like. Take this top from Amuse Society for example. It is such a good transition item because it’s more of a tunic and it’s made from a gauze fabric which is lightweight enough to wear it now while the temps are still high and then you can layer it with a tank underneath for when things cool down.

The second trick to dressing the part is cognac baby!! Nothing screams fall like a yummy chestnut brown accessory like this purse from DV. Oh and did I mention it’s from Target and it was less than $30? Because I should have. It’s no Hudson bag but for a savings of $2,320 I think I can deal. I love the tassels and it’s a perfect size for a crossbody bag.

This fall cropped jeans are really big especially if they have a frayed hem and any kind of distressing. I love this pair of jeans from Kut from the Kloth at Nordstrom because they are easy on the wallet, fit great and look pretty good if I do say so myself! Personally I only pay the big bucks for jeans that I will wear wear round, aka my beloved Verdugo skinny jeans from Paige. If you have a booty, any resemblance of a thigh and are looking for a great pair of jeans you really should check them out!

Another thing I like to keep in mind when transitioning into fall is to pair long sleeves and jeans with open-toed shoes. This pair from Tory Burch is old and sold out but I really like these open toe wedges also.

So there you have it, friends! Simple fall style 101. Wear tunics. Get a great cognac crossbody. Find yourself a great pair of distressed cropped jeans.
