Last fall we were approached by someone who wanted to buy our house which left us scrambling to find an apartment. We already owned land and were prepared to build but needed somewhere to live in the interim. We found seemingly the perfect spot except for one hitch, it was a two bedroom and we had been living in a three bedroom. At the time our girls were three and two and I thought that it would be easy for them to share a room instead of having their own rooms. Over the past six months they have learned how to go to sleep at the same time and coexist in one tiny, windowless room while I have learned how to maximize every square inch of an asymmetrical room for two little girls and all of their toys and treasures. Today, with the help of Walmart.com, I’m going to show you how I transformed one awkward corner into a cozy reading nook with a ton of storage!

I’ve been on the hunt for something to fill this corner in our girls room for some time. Since we are building, and since they are toddlers, I didn’t want to invest a ton of money but I also didn’t want to sacrifice look or quality. When I first spotted this canvas tent on Walmart.com‘s site I thought to myself it would be perfect for outdoor parties! It’s huge, has lights and is canvas meaning I could stencil it into a birthday party dreamland! I also loved that there were five sides meaning it could fit into that awkward corner in the girls room. I actually ended up putting two of the sides together to slide it further into the corner and then they bring it out to play! My girls are in fort and tent mode and make some structure they can hide under every single day. They also love to read books and watch their tablets so I decided to get this tent and transform that quirky corner into a reading and tablet-watching oasis. All I added were some lanterns we owned and this cozy rug and they think it’s the best thing in the entire world.
If you haven’t visited the revamped Walmart.com’s home section lately then you need to pop on over and check it out. Their inventory is unreal and they have a huge selection of decor from more brands that I could name. I also love that you can shop by room or shop by style. Another item I found on Walmart.com is this storage bin bookcase! It looks identical to so many pieces from boutique stores and it absolutely looks more expensive than the $99 price tag. The quality is great and it took Zach and I only 20 minutes to put together. I love that each of the girls get their own cubbies. It would make great storage for book bags or toys as well! I even was able to convert Scottie’s crib into a big-girl bed and both items can be found on their site. I mean can you honestly believe these pieces came from Walmart.com?!

The girls are thrilled with their little nook, Scottie is thrilled with her new big-girl bed and I’m thrilled with the price! If you are wanting to refresh a room then I would highly encourage you to check out Walmart.com for decor. I spotted a reclaimed coffee table I would love to have as well. I’m very impressed with the quality, the selection and the price tags and I’m so honored to have partnered with them on today’s post! Please go check it out and tell me what you think!?
