Hi friends! Today I am giving you a sneak peak of our house all decked out for Christmas! If you keep up with me on Instagram or Insta-stories you know that I shot these photos a couple of weeks ago. However, Christmas shopping has gotten the best of me and I finally took the time last night to sit down and finish this post! I’ve tried to link up as much of the items as possible but if you have any specific questions of something I overlooked leave a comment and I will be happy to hunt it down for you.
Our fireplace is right below a huge TV in our living room. This makes decorating the mantle a little tricky because I only have around 5 inches between the top of the mantle and the TV. To start I put garland down and tuck it around 3m hooks I’ve placed strategically to keep it from falling off. Then I tuck in mini sprays to pretty it up and battery operated rice lights for a little twinkle. My stockings are also held up by 3m hooks and then decorated with these ornaments. I’ve had cute metal stocking holders in years past but now that I live with little monsters I’m terrified they will rip the stockings down and a metal reindeer will split their head right open. I think that decorative holders are so cute but I would much rather have a 3m hook holding up my stockings than a Christmas trip to the ER.
We have a pre-lit fake tree partly for the convenience and mostly because we are OCD and ain’t nobody got time to vacuum pine needles every day. I do the best I can to make it look natural by tucking in even more of those mini sprays found at Hobby Lobby for about $1.50 each and then twigs, twigs and more twigs. This year I used a star tree topper from Target and striped tree skirt. The plaid ornaments and candy cane ornaments came from Pottery Barn and all of my wrapping paper is Sugar Paper LA.
The day I took these photos we were having our annual adult gingerbread decorating party. I set up a drink station on a galvanized tray complete with prosecco, red wine & a decanter. I found the Cheers straws at Target and these candy cane stirrers at Pottery Barn.
Other than the fireplace, tree and dining room table I like to have a couple of other details spread around. Our floor plan is really open with the kitchen, dining room and living room all connected so to decorate the sitting area I added this believe pillow & this merry christmas pillow along with our fur throw to the couch. I also like to keep all of the Christmas magazines I get and put those on our coffee table. For my daughters ornaments they have made I put up this really cheap artificial tree on our stairs which are covered in shiplap.
Our porch decor is pretty simple. My plan for post-Christmas shopping is to snag some pre-lit garland on sale so that I can place it around the door frame next year. For this year I put a big wreath on the door complete with a bow I made out of plaid ribbon from Pottery Barn. I found this cute door mat at Target and we put pre-lit trees in our planters.
The Dining Room
Our tree is set up in the dining room to shield it as much as possible from little hands ripping all of the ornaments off all the livelong day. On our sideboard I put an olive wood nativity I got in Jerusalem flanked by mini trees. I love a good tablescape and this year made my bread bowl the centerpiece. I filled it with red & gold ornaments sitting on top of balled up red tissue paper to help give it height and fullness. On either side of the bread bowl I put two berry candle holders filled with chopped up wooden accents. For the place-settings I used my red placemats, vietri dinner plates and these really cute fa-la-la plates topped with candy canes. To tie up the utensils I used wrapping paper tags which you could also use as name cards.
Well that’s it guys! Might be the longest post I’ve ever written so I hope I didn’t bore you too much! If you want to see more decor / entertaining posts just let me know! Have a very Merry Christmas and check back next week for info on all of the best sales!
