Garden Green Beans With Chili Crunch

These might be the easiest (and most addictive) green beans you’ll ever make

This is our first year actually having success with bush beans and they are producing like crazy.

We tilled up a row in the pasture beside my cutting garden in the spring because I wanted somewhere to grow the things that take up a ton of room. So out there we have green beans, watermelon, okra and a few other things that I didn’t necessarily want taking over my garden beds.

The beans have been one of the biggest wins!! The only problem is once they start coming in, you have to actually figure out what to do with all of them, and I really don’t like to let them just collect on the counter.

I’ve been trying to find really easy ways to cook them right as we pick them and this is hands down my favorite so far. It takes maybe five minutes on the stove and I almost always have everything I need.

Also, you definitely don’t have to grow green beans to make this. Grab them at the farmers market or grab a bag at the grocery store.

Chili Crunch Green Beans

Ingredients

  • Fresh green beans, ends trimmed and cut in half
  • 1 tablespoon butter per 1 cup green beans
  • 1 tablespoon Trader Joe’s Crunchy Chili Onion per 1 cup green beans
  • About ¼ cup water per 1 cup green beans
  • Redmond Real Salt, to taste

Directions

  1. Add the green beans and water to a skillet over medium heat. Cover and let them steam for about 3 minutes.
  2. Remove the lid and let any remaining water cook off.
  3. Add the butter and chili crunch and toss everything together until the butter is melted and the beans are coated.
  4. Finish with a good pinch of salt and serve warm.

A couple of notes: I like the beans to still have a little bite to them, so don’t over-steam. And obviously the chili crunch is adjustable. Add a little less for kids or a little more if you want some heat.

We’ve been making these pretty much as quickly as we can pick the beans. It takes all of five minutes, one pan and no complicated ingredients required.
