The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale opens to the public tomorrow. I will have a shopping guide live bright and early in the morning but I wanted to go ahead and give you an idea of why this sale is so great. I have 19 fall basics below including shoes and accessories. All of the items except for this chambray shirt are included in the sale (and honestly who doesn’t already have a chambray shirt). You can take these 19 items (that you got on sale) and make them easily into 130 outfits? Can you say an entire fall wardrobe? Don’t believe me? Keep reading.

The easiest way to layer in the fall is to start with a pair of denim and add a tee (short sleeve or long sleeve), then a button-up followed by a utility jacket and then a scarf. This give you 4 outfits as seen above. Change the chambray to a plaid shirt and that gives you 4 more. Swap out the jeans for black denim or (gasp) white and that’s 8 more outfits.  16 outfit combinations in all.

Here is an example of a similar outfit with booties which would give you 16 more outfits just by changing the shoes and the bag. You can also repeat the entire combination with any number of shirts but let’s say for simplicity sake you only do it with a striped shirt. That would give you 32 more outfits by repeating that first combination with regular jeans, black jeans, white jeans, riding boots and booties. That’s an additional 48 outfits just by adding a striped tee and a pair of booties.

Here is an example of all of the ways you can wear chambray. Button it up, wear it with a graphic tee, wear it with a white tee or layer it under a utility vest. Chambray also matches black denim, regular denim and boots, booties, heels or flats. Take the 4 outfits above and wear the 2 on the right with black denim and that would give you 6 outfits. Change up the shoes to booties (6 more) or pumps (6 more) and that’s a total of 18 outfit combinations.

I mean I really could go on and on but here is an example of why you need a utility jacket. Not only does it work with all of the combinations above but also with any plain tee or any t-shirt dress. Let’s just say this is 4 more outfits even though my mind could get wild with all the shirt + shoe combinations.

Add a blazer into the mix and you can wear it with a white tee, colored tee, striped tee and yes I would even layer all of these with chambray under the blazer. That is 6 outfits in all. Change out the jeans to regular denim and you have 6 more. Wear all 12 of those outfits with flats or booties and you have 36 outfits just from one blazer.

When you are looking for blouses in the fall buy ones that you can dress up or down. This blouse is great with black jeans but I would also wear it with skinny jeans or bootcut / flares. Again to keep matters simple let’s just say that you repeated these 4 outfits with regular denim. That gives you 8 more outfits.
