Family Orchard Photos

Did you see my outfit post with Old Navy & People.com yesterday? Well here is a little look at what really went down behind the scenes.

We actually pulled over on the way home and took the photos in a driveway while the girls were sitting in the car snacks in hand. That morning Katheryn and I went to Sky Top to take some photos of me and the girls as a present for Zach (sorry babe – spoiler alert). The plan was to take pictures of me in the outfit for my collaboration with Old Navy and knock out all the pictures at once but things didn’t really go as planned. This was the only solo shot we got while my kids were running through lines of trees and attempting to eat apples off the ground.

Katheryn is an amazing photographer (more on that in a bit) but just imagine a non-model attempting to take decent pictures in a dress while balancing on a hillside in the middle of an orchard and keeping one eye sideways to keep track of her kids. And by kids I mean a 2 year old and a very mobile 1 year old. It wasn’t pretty. We were able to contain them briefly with the Youtube Kids app and a comfy blanket.

The rest of the photos looked a little bit more like this with them running in to hold my hand or trying to drag me to the playground.

We decided the excitement of being at the apple orchard was to much for the girls to try and keep them occupied while we worked so we focused instead on taking the pictures for Zach’s present. This mini shoot is a testament to how talented of a photographer Katheryn is. She can take the chaos of frustrated and impatient kids tired of waiting on mom to work and turn it into memories you want to frame and keep forever.
