Baby Shower Luncheon

Do you want to know the secret to planning a baby shower with a 4 week old and a 22 month old Step 1 -recruit great vendors. Step 2 -outsource. Everything.

I was pretty excited when my best friend and The Southern Style Guide partner in crime announced that she was pregnant at the same time I was. With only 8 weeks difference between our due dates my mind raced with baby shower themes and decor. Would it be an over the top girly bash? Or would we basically plan their wedding from our uteruses? I couldn’t even wait to find out what she was having to plan the extravaganza and then she?decided to hold out on us and learn the sex at the delivery. I suppose if you are giving birth that’s your right but man it just really crushed my dreams. After I deleted a few secret Pinterest boards and shed a few tears I picked myself up off the floor and decided to plan a sweet and classy bridal luncheon to shower this mommy to be.

The shower was held at The Lazy Goat in Greenville, SC earlier this fall on a Saturday at noon. The Lazy Goat is one of our favorite restaurants (hello brussel sprouts & truffle pomme frites) and it has a BEAUTIFUL space that overlooks the Reedy River in the heart of downtown Greenville. The Fountain Room is completely private and surrounded by glass windows that provide great views of the Lazy Goat’s cascading waterfalls and downtown Greenville. Once we secured the location I asked my friends at Mac & Murphy for their help in designing the perfect invites!

Since I was a very new mom I wanted the decorations to be beautiful but something that I could easily handle while juggling my 4 week old. In an effort to stay sane, I recruited the help of my good friend Suzie who owns Statice Flowers to help me plan and execute the florals. I?wanted one long table throughout the center of the room with a continuous tablescape and Suzie helped me make my vision a reality by covering it with lace runners, breathtaking florals, greenery and votive candles. At every place setting we had blue glassware from Table 301 to add an extra pop of color to the spread and darling macaron favors from Prep Confections that were as tasty as they were pretty. (But really I ate all the extras. In my car. Before I got home.)

To flank the seating we had a table covered in lace for presents, a DIY coffee bar and a beautiful spread of mediterranean cuisine from The Lazy Goat & Table 301 Catering.  We ate, we opened presents, we laughed and to top things off we had the entire day documented by our great friend Christine Coker of Christine LeGrand Photography.
