A Bright & Floral Nursery

I love interior design so when we found out we were having another girl I immediately started planning her sweet nursery. Decorating is something I have always enjoyed so I was thrilled to team up with The Land of Nod and design a bright & floral nursery for our precious baby girl. I don’t think that decorating a room has to be overwhelming if you don’t let it be. You just have to take it step by step and keep adding things and rearranging until you’re comfortable with the space you’ve created. Here is an easy recipe to follow.

1. Find an item or two that you totally love that represents the overall theme of your room. Maybe it’s a painting, a great rug or a wallpaper you absolutely love and can’t live without. Let these pieces be your guide and keep coming back to them as you pick out additional items for the room. (For me those items were this bedding from The Land of Nod that I just loved and this pearl wallpaper I became obsessed with while trolling around instagram one day.)

2. Next, start to develop a color scheme around those items that will help you focus in on other pieces to decorate with. (Since I was working with a sweet blush color and a feminine pearl I knew I wanted to pull in some greys or blues and not have the room look too overly girly.)

3. Once you have your statement pieces and your color scheme then you can start to accent and fill in the gaps. Personally, I create a photo stream and save pictures of everything I’m liking so that I can easily make sure everything looks good together. (I was a little concerned with how I was going to make a floral wallpaper and floral bedding look good together. Then in a drastic turn of events I scored a beautiful FLORAL pink and navy rug from Lulu & Georgia during their 4th of July sale. It was just too good of a deal to pass up and I thought it would possibly match my bedding and wallpaper so I went with it. Now I was stuck with 3 different floral items so in an effort to tie everything together I picked as many neutral and modern (read plain) items as possible – like all of the white furniture, plain white curtains and this awesome print from The Land of Nod.)
