I’m back! I know you might be thinking wait where did you go, didn’t you just post about the #Nsale on Thursday?! And yes, yes I did. But you see I typically post every day (or sometimes twice a day) Monday – Friday so missing three full days of blogging feels a little naughty. On top of blogging I’m also a mom of two little babies and I handle all the marketing for our family business so I typically work on my blog late at night or when my girls nap and husband works on the weekends. So what did I do with all my free time this weekend? Well one of my girlfriends and her husband came to stay with us and I did a lot of sitting and talking and laughing and laying out and yes even watched a whole movie on a Saturday afternoon while my babies napped. If you can’t understand why this is a big deal just wait until you have two children 2.5 and under and then get back at me. I basically feel like I’ve been on a month long sabbatical in the Caribbean which I haven’t quite decided if it’s a good thing or a really sad and pathetic one.
Lucky for you I’m coming out of my weekend retirement to talk about the beauty products I’m loving recently. You see, all I want in life is smooth skin, smooth hair and a smooth, pore-free face. So today’s beauty roundup is dedicated to hydrating, nourishing and trying to make my face look as much like a newborn baby’s as humanly possible. To do so I’ve enlisted some heavy hitting beauty brands. Check out these tried and true products that get my official stamp of Southern Style Guide approval!
Top to bottom, Left to right: Smashbox Pore Minimizing Photo Finish Primer | Biore Charcoal Pore Minimizer | Bare Minerals Gen Nude Radiant Lipstick in Heaven and Bare Minerals Gen Nude Buttercream Lipgloss in Snarky | Tresemme Botanique Shampoo | Chapstick Total Hydration 3 in 1 in Sweet Peach | Tresemme Botanique Hair Mask | EOS Shaving Cream | Tresemme Botanique Nourish and Replenish Conditioner
For your pores – I wish I could explain to you my obsession as of lately for minimizing my pores. I know I joke alot and I’m really not searching for perfection here but I really am searching for a product that keeps these babies at bay and helps my skin look as smooth as possible. I have my eye on this skincare line and especially this exfoliant and I can’t wait to give it a try and let you know what I think. For now I will say that I love this primer by Smashbox. It’s a little thicker than other primers which I really like and I also think the matte finish helps my makeup stay better. I have nothing but positive reviews so far! I also am enjoying using this Biore Charcoal Pore Minimizer. It’s claim to fame is that the charcoal “gets deep into pores to draw out and bind to the dirt and oil that clogs pores”. The reason why is because charcoal can?absorb 100 to 200 times it’s weight in impurities. This is why activated charcoal is used in the medical community to treat poison or GI infections so the same logic has been transferred over to skincare. I don’t know if there is hard fast scientific evidence but I do know that my skin feels better and is definitely smoother after I use this product.
For your lips – If you’re a girl who loves an edgy makeup or a bold red lip then I am not your girl. I didn’t wear makeup daily until my senior year of high school and I just love a natural look. Granted sometimes I go heavy on the “natural” shades with smoky eyes and contouring but I just can’t do a bold lip or a crazy colored eye. So naturally (see what I did there) I’m a big fan of creamy lipstick and lipgloss in nude, peach and light pink shades. I’m a huge fan of this Bare Minerals Gen Nude Radiant Lipstick in Heaven and Bare Minerals Gen Nude Buttercream Lipgloss in Snarky and will show you what it looks like in the flesh (I’m on a roll) today on my snapchat if you want to see! (Username: SouthStyleGuide). Also I am always on the hunt for a great chapstick and this Chapstick Total Hydration 3 in 1 in Sweet Peach is to die for!
For your locks – My new go-to hair care regimen is the Tresemme Botanique Nourish and Replenish Shampoo and the matching conditioner. It makes my hair feel great and smell even better! I mean how could you possibly not love the scent of coconut and aloe?!? Plus a huge container of it is $4.99 which is great for me because I love to lather up my tresses. I’ve also been using this hair masque which is thinner than I thought it would be so you really need to squeeze the water out of your hair before you apply but I am a big fan of how it’s making my hair look and feel. I want to try this hair elixer too!
For your legs – EOS Shave Cream in Lavender Jasmine. I repeat…. lavender. jasmine. Do not delay, buy today!
Ok that’s all for today! If you have any beauty questions or recommendations please let me know in the comments and you can always shop all of my beauty favorites here. Check back tomorrow and I’ll have a great summer outfit for you! Happy Hump Day!
