One pair of jeans. One pair of shoes. 10 Outfits.

fall casual style finds

I ordered a ton of fall style finds for our trip to Nantucket… only for the temps to refuse to cooperate. Classic, right? I had visions of layers upon layers and crisp breezes, but it ended up being just warm enough that I couldn’t pack half of what I’d planned.

I tried everything on before heading to dinner one night—just to see what I was missing—and since I was already wearing these boots and my favorite pair of denim, I kept those on and just swapped out tops. Honestly? Every single one looked great with the jean + boot combo. Sometimes lazy styling accidentally works out.

Quick side note: the boots are insanely comfy. The heel’s a little higher than I’d normally grab in this current stage of life, but the square base and soft suede make them surprisingly easy on the feet. And I love that they slide right under jeans—no bunching or awkward hem situation.

Anyway, here are all the tops, sizes, and details for your shopping pleasure.

Cardigan Outfit // I really like this cardigan but I’m wondering if a smaller size would look better because the medium is bunching on the sides. I love the buttons so much that I returned and am patiently waiting on it to come back in stock.

Cream Jacket Outft // I thought about returning this jacket (I’m in a 6) because it’s structured but I ended up keeping as an option to layer over plain tees and button downs. I have several anoraks and blazers but nothing like this so I thought it would be a fun alternative for a “day coat”.

Beige Sweater Outfit // This beige sweater is so cozy but so so roomy. I ordered a small / medium and needed an extra-small / small.

Green Top Outfit // This is a piece from Quince that I was excited to try but didn’t love. The fabric is very thin and I think I was wanting a thicker option since it was short-sleeved. If you’re hot-natured and want a good short-sleeve sweater option this would be great for you!

Wrap Cardigan Outfit // I REALLy wanted to wear this on our Nantucket trip but it is thick and warm. It would be perfect for a ski trip or mountain getaway. I would recommend sizing down though. This is a medium and I should have gotten a small because it’s bunched on the back and the side where my hand is.

Cardigan Outfit // LOVE this cardigan. 10/10. No notes. (I’m in a small).

Cream Sweater Outfit // This is my first apparel order from Quince and I do like this sweater! I returned and have re-ordered in a small. It has a slightly raised hem in the front and I just feel like I would wear it more if it had a more tailored fit. Stay tuned for the next size down.

Black Jacket and Chambray Top // I didn’t end up keeping this jacket because of the pattern on the interior. It’s pretty but I just I would prefer something with warmer colors. I do love the chambray button up (even though you can’t see it). It’s lightweight, soft and the perfect layering essential. (I’m in a 6 in jacket and medium in top)

Blazer Outfit // My designer weakness will forever be Veronica Beard. It’s one of those brands that just gets it—classic, effortless, and always filled with those earthy tones I naturally gravitate toward. This cropped dickey jacket is no exception.

Full disclosure: they sent it to me, but honestly, it’s the kind of piece I’d happily invest in myself. The quality, tailoring, and fabric are all so well done—everything you’d expect from a brand that actually holds up over time.

I paired it with a simple Free People tank, and now all I need is a great belt and a fabulous bag to pull it all together. (I’m wearing a 6 in the jacket and a medium in the tank).

Plaid Coat Outfit // I love this jacket. It has a removable hood, which I didn’t think I’d care about, but it makes it so versatile. At first, I wasn’t sure how often I’d actually wear the pattern—but turns out, the answer is constantly. I’ve thrown it on for running errands, sitting on the sidelines at my kids’ games, dinner out—you name it. (I’m in a 4)

The striped tee underneath has also become a go-to, but fair warning: it’s slightly cropped on me (I have a long torso, so that’s not exactly shocking). Just something to keep in mind before you hit “add to cart.” (I’m in a medium)
