Fall Staples

If you have been following along with my 30 Days of Fall Layers series on instagram or on the blog then you know I love dressing for fall more than any other season. Maybe because it’s much easier to dress casual and look cute when you can layer different items and textures or maybe it’s just because on the inside I’m really just an 85 year old woman trying to wear as many items of clothes as possible. Whatever the reason there is no denying my love for all things falland the beautiful clothes that come with it. There is just something about wearing a vest and a plaid shirt that feels like home to me. So on second thought maybe on the inside I’m really just a lumberjack. Anyways, if you love fall clothes or if you are just wanting to update your closet for the season here are the eight fall staples I can’t live without. I love each of these items on their own but the best part is they can be easily paired with a varietytops, jeans, accessories and outerwear to create an endless combination of outfits.

Utility Vest – Wear with chambray, stripes, blouses, tees and sweaters.

Booties – We are living the land of booties, people! There are so many out there to chose from but here are 16 of my favorites, all under $150.

Striped Tee – The striped tee is my favorite staple. You can wear it under pretty much any button-up, vest, jacket or sweater.

Leopard Shoes – Leopard is a neutral people! Seriously. Pair it with polka dots, herringbone and plaids and prepare to be amazed.

Chambray Button-Up – This is basically more important to have than underwear. If you don’t have a chambray shirt then I don’t even know what you are doing reading this blog.

Brown Riding Boots – Some girls look so chic in black but I am a sucker for brown. Brown riding boots go with everything from a casual long-sleeve tee to a pretty black (yes black) blouse.

Plaid Blanket Scarf – White girls rejoice. Fall = blanket scarves.

Quilted Vest – Some people have security blankets. I have quilted vests. I wear them all. the. time. Preschool drop-off, to the gym, to the movies, to dinner, out on the town, you name it!

Gingham / Plaid Button-Ups – Buy one plaid, one buffalo check and one gingham shirt you love and repeat all fall long.

Taupe Purse – Wear it with black or brown, dress it up and dress it down.
