My Grandma’s Green Beans

go ahead and double the recipe

File this under things I never thought I would be posting. 🤣

I grew up watching my grandma make green beans for every Sunday dinner & holiday. It was always my favorite side dish & I would request them anytime she was cooking dinner. I was lucky enough to get to cook with her a lot and we tried to measure it out as best we could, but ultimately this is my version of them because of course she didn’t measure. She also used real sugar & canola oil & I have swapped it out for brown sugar & olive oil.

Combine the following in a large pot:
• A 50oz can of @delmontefresh cut green beans (drained).
• A tbsp of seasalt (I use Redmonds or French Grey Salt)
• Olive oil of choice (2-3 tbsp).
• 1 beef bouillon cube. I like Wylers.
• 1/4 cup of brown sugar.

Cover w/ water, bring to a boil & cover the pot almost completely allowing a little steam to come out. Then (in the words of my grandma) just cook them to death. Aka cook them at a rolling boil until the water is almost all the way cooked down.

You can serve them before the water is cooked all the way down or reduce to a simmer if you need to… you can’t really mess them up!

Let me know if you try!
