Why You Need Physical and Chemical Exfoliants
Physical exfoliants are exactly what they sound like, physically removing dead skin cells from the surface. This could be a microderm wand or a (oftentimes) harsh scrub. Chemical exfoliants might sound scary, but they are actually amazing! They work to dissolve the dead skin cells that bond together in the deeper layers of the skin. With a product like a peel, you actually get the best of both worlds. The texture and the motion of using the pad works to gently exfoliate while the ingredients get down deep in pores to do the heavy lifting. I use toning pads every day to help remove the top layer of dead skin cells and prep my skin for serums and moisturizers. If you are using any form of retinoid then you absolutely need to be exfoliating. Retinoids work to stimulate cell turnover. If you aren’t getting the dull skin off the top, then the new regenerated skin can’t shine through. I recommend starting twice per week and working up to daily. And of course, always use a peel pad after dermaplaning.

Even in my most basic skincare routine, I always use toning pads. The Dynamic Resurfacing Pads from ELEMIS are really convenient to use to gently exfoliate and lift away dead skin cells. Dynamic Resurfacing Peel and Reset for Chemical Exfoliation
This is a two-in-one chemical exfoliant to give you glowing, glassy skin. The first step is the exfoliating peel patented with a Tri Enzyme and phytic, ellagic and mandelic acids. You leave this on for 15 minutes, where it tingles slightly but still feels gentle. Then phase 2 on the bottom of the bottle is the Reset, which soothes your post-peel skin with birch sap and porcelain flower microbiota extract.
I’ve been using the Dynamic Resurfacing Peel, and I am really loving it. I haven’t noticed a tingling and I feel like my skin is brighter the mornings that I use it!

After Exfoliating
Moisturizers sink deepest into the inner layers of skin after exfoliating so don’t skip this step.
