Woodlands Baby Shower

When I found out one of my good friends from college and forever tailgating buddy was pregnant with her first baby GIRL I all but begged to be able to help with the shower. Not only do I really love planning parties but I also really love my friend Audie. We met when we were in the same sorority at Clemson and I look forward to every time we get to hang out with her and her husband, Justin. And maybe her parents too. I just really love her parents so much. So when I found out the shower was going to be at the beautiful historic home in Summerville, SC where Audie grew up I not only jumped at the chance to catch up with her but also to stay up way too late talking and laughing with her family.

To decorate for the shower we wanted something girly, classy and as southern as the mom and dad-to-be. Justin grew up in the heart of South Carolina on a 500 acre farm in a home that dates back to 1820. Audie’s family home, Majestic Oaks, was built in 1906 and has 28 live oaks on the property. The antlers and all of the sheds were found on Justin’s family land and all of the camellias were picked from the beautiful landscaping at Audie’s.

We set up the dessert table on the sideboard in the dining room. The cake, from Baked And Frosted, was flanked on each side with sugar cookies from Lkn Pop Cookies and cupcakes also from Baked And Frosted. My friend Suzie from Statice made sent me with some beautiful florals that framed the desserts perfectly. I decorated the cake and the antlers the morning of the party with eucalyptus, a few ranunculus and camellias that I picked from the yard. It was my first hand at decorating a cake but proved to be pretty simple. First I made mini bouquets with the flowers and taped them to a floral pick with floral tape. Once that I was done I placed them into the cake just like a candle. I did the same thing with flowers on top of the antlers and then secured the whole thing to the mirror with a 3m hook. The cake stand belonged to the mommy-to-be wooden chargers are from Michaels but I found them here on Amazon.

The Oh Baby Banner from Oh Shiny Paper Co was so easy to set up because it’s made with tiny holes on each side of the letters. I threaded fishing line through the holes and then taped the entire thing to the mirror. On each side of the banner I used tassels from Jamboree Party Box. Under the mirror I placed small round vases filled with camellias from the yard. The champagne glasses were my favorite part of the party decor! They look so pretty and are so easy to do! First you squeeze fresh lemon juice on a plate, dip in the glasses and then dip the glasses again in edible glitter. We dipped the glasses the morning of the party then filled immediately after with rosé and served them as guests were arriving.
