Weekend at the Wentworth

Last weekend we hopped down to Charleston for a fun weekend at the Wentworth Mansion. The team behind the Wentworth’s marketing and PR reached out to me and asked if Zach and I would be willing to be a part of their 20th anniversary celebration. Naturally we jumped at the chance and packed our bags for a little pre-Christmas weekend getaway. If you aren’t familiar with the Wentworth you can read all about it on this blog post. In short is a super-swanky inn right in the heart of downtown Charleston with luxurious amenities and offering up a boutique, first class experience.

In commemoration of their emerald anniversary, the Wentworth is doing a huge giveaway in February of next year where one of their instagram followers will win a host of prizes including a stay at the Wentworth, a meal at their award-winning restaurant, Circa 1886, as well as gift certificates to Hampden Clothing, Jordan Lash, a pair of emerald earrings from Croghan’s and much more. Zach and I, with the help of my friend/photographer Katheryn spent an afternoon shooting all of the promotional materials for it and I can’t wait to show the pics to you!

For now, here is a little peak at our weekend including a couple of new favorite spots in Charleston! When we arrived in Charleston and got checked in they informed us Zach and I would be staying in the Grand Mansion Suite and I almost fell over dead. I mean take a look at this room! It had a beautiful sleeping area, a huge bathroom and a spacious sitting room. The four of us spent most of each evening seated around this cozy fire place talking and laughing with a fire crackling.

After we got checked in we headed downtown to Hampden Clothing & Jordan Lash to pick out our threads for the photo shoot. Hampden is full of the dreamiest designer pieces and Stacy, the owner, is so very kind and helpful. I was able to pick out a dress in an instant. Next we popped across the street to Jordan Lash. It was actually our first time experience at Jordan Lash (they opened earlier this year) and they were so wonderful! Dressing a man who doesn’t really dress up a ton is a feat and we may or may not have made Zach try on 50+ items. If you are shopping for men’s clothes in Charleston you really should check them out! Nicest people ever and they have an impressive selection of menswear.

This is the outfit I wore for the day of traveling & shopping. I debated buying this vest all season and found it on the sale rack and then an extra 40% off and I’m so glad I snagged it because it’s incredibly comfy. I’ve been in a couple of J.Crew stores since then and they all have a few so if you hurry you might be able to scoop one up!

For dinner I changed into my new pair of cropped black denim. They are pricey but I’m already getting my monies worth. I love the length and how the flare hem balanced out my thass proportions. For those of you that are new here a thass is where your thigh meets your… well, you get the picture. 😉

After shopping we headed to dinner at Circa 1886 and boy was it delicious! I had a honeysuckle intermezzo, a wedge salad, chicken friend salmon and a tiny bite of a seared pineapple cake. No, none of the above is on the Faster Way To Fat Loss plan but I paid my dues the next morning in the gym. I mean how are you going to say no to this menu?!?

When you stay at The Wentworth, breakfast at Circa 1886 is included and it’s just as good as dinner! Here is a peak at the healthier a la carte option and the naughty shrimp and grits.

After breakfast we walked over to King Street to shop because Kat and I couldn’t leave town without popping in to Sugar Snap Pea for some gifts for our kids. Zach and Justin thoroughly enjoyed themselves…

We headed back to our hotel to get ready for the shoot but not before stopping at The Watch for a casual lunch of 100% appetizers. The Watch is at the top of The Restoration and it’s beautiful! The food is unreal (truffle tries anyone?) and the view isn’t too shabby either.

On top of everything The Wentworth offers as a property you honestly cannot beat the location! It’s located in the heart of Harleston Village and you can easily walk anywhere downtown from the Marina to King Street and East Bay. Black Tap Coffee is a few short blocks away and the new trendy spot Basic Kitchen is right down the street!

We rounded out the weekend at Halls (our favorite) and headed home the next am to get our babies. Thanks for reading this and for dealing with my crazy iphone photos. These trip recaps are always fun for me to read (when other people write them) but always really hard to put together. There are just so many things I can say about a trip and what we did and what I thought that I never really know where to start. I tried, as I always to, to keep this brief so if you have any questions leave them in the comments below!
